What you will learn
- Find your way around the workspace and create your first project and document.
- Write, refine, find and link requirements.
- Follow relationships in the traceability view and resolve questions through comments and reviews.
- Specify a test, link it to a requirement and record a test run.
- Capture a document version and export it as a PDF.
How to use this course
The videos use on-screen instructions without voice or music. Each lesson includes a learning goal, an example, a practice task and the complete video text.
All exercises use the fictional Aster learning project. Use your own learning project for practice. The testing lessons require a suitably configured test specification and a prepared device under test. Available features depend on your project configuration and licence.
Write your first requirement
Create a requirement as a work item in a document.
Prerequisite: An editable document is open and you have permission to create work items.
Example
Indicate measurement start: After a measurement is started, the device shall display a visible progress indicator within one second.
Steps
- Position the cursor in the document
- Choose Create work item
- Select System Requirement
- Enter the title and description
- Save and check the assigned ID
Exercise
Create one System Requirement with a clear trigger and a measurable response.
Read the video text
- Write your first requirement. A requirement is a Work Item. It can be written directly in a document.
- Create a Work Item. Place the cursor below the introduction. Choose Create work item in the toolbar.
- Choose the right type. Open Work Item details if needed. Select System Requirement; available types depend on your project.
- Use a concise title. Enter Indicate measurement start. The title helps you recognise the item later.
- Write a measurable requirement. After measurement start, a visible progress indicator must appear within one second.
- Save the new item. Save the Work Item, then save the document. These are separate working steps.
- Check its assigned ID. Medioora assigned SYS-0005 in this project. Your automatically assigned ID may differ.
- Keep context and requirement distinct. The heading organises the document; the numbered item contains the requirement.
- Try it yourself. Create one System Requirement with a clear trigger and a measurable response.
Fictional learning project. Example requirements and test values are for practising the software only.
