What you will learn

  • Find your way around the workspace and create your first project and document.
  • Write, refine, find and link requirements.
  • Follow relationships in the traceability view and resolve questions through comments and reviews.
  • Specify a test, link it to a requirement and record a test run.
  • Capture a document version and export it as a PDF.

How to use this course

The videos use on-screen instructions without voice or music. Each lesson includes a learning goal, an example, a practice task and the complete video text.

All exercises use the fictional Aster learning project. Use your own learning project for practice. The testing lessons require a suitably configured test specification and a prepared device under test. Available features depend on your project configuration and licence.

Exercise

Create a named version, reopen it and compare it with the editable working document.

Read the video text
  1. Create a document version. A working document can change. A saved version records a specific document state.
  2. Save before versioning. Save the current document before creating the version.
  3. Choose Version. Enter a version label and a meaningful change note.
  4. Describe what changed. Example: Added the clarified requirement, review and test link. Our new version is 0.2.
  5. Capture changed Work Items. Select the checkbox when their changes should be included in the version's change information.
  6. Check the saved result. The saved version can now be found in the document history.
  7. Find the version again. Open History. Show versions only separates named versions from individual changes.
  8. Inspect the frozen version. Open the version's View action. Check its label and captured requirement.
  9. Try it yourself. Create a named version, reopen it and compare it with the editable working document.

Fictional learning project. Example requirements and test values are for practising the software only.
